Whenever you allow access to your home for a remodeling project, there is obviously some trepidation to be expected. Your uneasiness is further heightened by the fact that entry or alarm codes are typically shared with other trades people in order to complete your project.

I can't speak for other remodeling professionals about the system they use, but our standard “pre-care system” is designed to protect your safety, security, and peace of mind. We assist you in programming guest codes into your access system. If your system permits it, we can even restrict the access allowed.

There is no need for us to ever know your master codes. This protects you in some important ways. For one, your master codes may resemble or match PIN's you use for other purposes. When your project is complete, we will help you in disabling the guest codes.

Remodeling is unavoidably an intrusive process to your home, but when it is done, you need to feel satisfied that your home is again your domain. We realize how important that is and take the necessary steps to assure your control of the situation.

Even during a construction process, there should be hours that are sacred and this should be discussed with your project manager. For example, entry after 5:30 pm on weekdays or before 6:30 am, and no entry on weekends except with prior notification when required and arranged ahead of time.

Ask your contractor about how they handle access/privacy/and work hours. The hours of access should be contained in your contract.
